Summer Events

Almost every city in the U.S. has summer events planned. Most of them are traditional but they still have to be planned for well in advance of the event itself.  The ones that most of us are familiar with are the firemen's carnivals and Fourth of July parades.

Most websites have tourism info that gives you an in-depth preview of their festivities for that summer.  When you are planning a summer vacation, this would be good info to have.  Also, there are all sorts of resource guides on the internet to help you plan your own summer events if you are not traveling to one.

Cities that have summer festivals, carnivals, parades, vendor markets and other events, have to plan them far ahead of the actual date. There is advertising to be done so that people know what is going on and when. There are participants in the festivities to correspond with and places and times to be coordinated.

Concerts are another big draw for people in the summer. Musical tours are in almost every major city and big name stars can bring in a tremendous crowd.  Therein lies another situation that has to be planned for - security and crowd control. There has to be extra law enforcement on duty, traffic controllers and security officers. This has to be arranged with city officials long before any concert date is set.

Renaissance festivals are very popular summer events in many cities. These festivals are held in the same place every year and the grounds are reserved for that time period many years in advance. The one thing most people don't know about these types of festivals is the enormous amount of cleanup that is required after the event. The cleanup crew can rival that of a grand hotel. You have to figure that with the thousands of people attending over the period of the event, that the grounds are a mess when everyone is finally gone.

Another thing that is not one of those typical summer events, but people flock to every summer is farmer's markets. With today's busy lifestyle, most people don't have the time or the space to plant a garden. Nor do they want the bother of one.  So the farmer's markets give them an opportunity to have fresh fruits and vegetables without the hassle of growing them.

Then, last but not least, are the private parties, the most popular being the graduation parties that take place all over at the end of June. These summer events too take a lot of planning and preparation. The guests need to be invited, the food needs to be ordered and the place to have the party needs to be decided.  And of course, the biggest event of all for some people is the summer wedding.  The planning that goes into that can boggle the mind and frazzle the nerves of almost every bride and groom.
